Why is my commission lower than expected?
Commission is calculated from the final order, not the original product price. A few things can affect what you ultimately earn.
Order total and discounts
Commission is based on the order subtotal after discounts. Shipping and taxes aren’t commissionable, so a promo code or discount can lower the amount your commission is calculated on.
Different commission rates
The rate can vary depending on the order. For example:
- New customers may earn a different rate than returning customers.
- Individual products can have different commission rates, creating a blended rate when multiple products are purchased.
- Some products or collections may be excluded entirely, including sale or clearance items, gift cards, and certain third-party products.
For retailers on external affiliate networks, rates and exclusions are set by the retailer’s program and ShopMy reports what the network provides.
Your share of commission
The advertised rate reflects the gross commission available on the sale. Your payout is your share of that commission, which you can see alongside each order in your dashboard. Some brand programs pay creators the full amount.
Returns and refunds
If a shopper returns part or all of an order, your commission will adjust to reflect the final purchase. Once an order has been paid out, it won’t be retroactively adjusted.
Links, codes, and bonuses
Link clicks take priority over discount codes. If a shopper clicks another creator’s link and then uses your code, the sale is credited to the link. Personal-use codes also don’t earn commission.
Bonuses are separate from commission and follow their own rules, so they may appear at a different time.
Tip: Look for the ⓘ icon next to a retailer’s commission rate for known exclusions or special terms.
