How to connect your Instagram account – ShopMy

Step 1: Changing your Instagram to a Creator or Business Account

As of today, we require a Business or Creator Instagram account in order to connect to the platform, and at this time also require the Instagram account having an associated Facebook page. These types of accounts allow more advanced analytics that allow you to share your data with brands during collaborations.

If you already have a Business or Creator Instagram account - please go to Step 2.

Setting Up an Instagram Creator Account:

To Switch your personal account to a creator account on Instagram:

Go to your profile and tab on the three lines in the top right hand side.

Select Account Type and Tools.

Select Switch to Professional Account.

Select your category. You can choose a category that best describes what you do, and then tap Done.

Select Creator.

To switch your business account to a creator account on Instagram:

Go to your profile and tab on the three lines in the top right hand side.

Select Business Tools and Controls.

Select Switch Account Type.

Select Switch to Creator Account.

Select Switch.

Settings up an Instagram Business Account:

Go to your profile on Instagram.

Tap Edit Profile.

Tap Switch to Professional Account.

Tap Next.

Select a category for your business an tap Switch to Professional Account.

Select Business and tap Next.

Add contact details and tap Next. To Skip this step, tap Don’t Use My Contact Info.

To share logins using Accounts Center, tap Login to Facebook. You can follow the steps to connect your business account to a Facebook Page associated with your business. This step is optional, and will make it easier to use all of the features available for businesses across Meta. Note: At this time, only one Facebook Page can be connected to your business account. To skip this step, tap Skip.

Set up your professional account by completing the optional steps or tap X on the top right corner to return to your profile.

To display or hide business information on your profile, go to your profile and tap Edit profile. Go to Profile display under Public business information to choose whether you want to hide or display your category label and contact info. Then, tap Done.

Step 2: Linking a Business Facebook Page

If you have an Instagram account, but it is not linked to a business Facebook page - please follow these steps

Go to your instagram page and click “Edit profile”.

Under “Profile information”, click the section called “page”.

Here, you can see if you have a Facebook page already connected and you will be prompted to create one if you do not have one connected.

Give your Facebook page a name and, under categories, select a business category (e.g. home businesses, business services, etc.).

Once you do that, the Facebook page will automatically be linked to your Instagram profile and you will be able to connect your instagram account to your ShopMy account.

Step 3: Connecting Instagram on ShopMy

Now that you have a Business or Creator Account and a Facebook page linked to your Instagram - please follow these steps to connect your account on ShopMy.

Go to your Account Settings page and locate the button labeled Connected Accounts

Select Instagram from the options.

When prompted, allow the permissions for ShopMy. Do not adjust these permissions, as they are necessary for proper integration.

Click Authorize to complete the connection.

Note: Please connect your social account via web browser, as this feature is not available in the ShopMy app.
